Welcome to the Society for Philosophy & Culture
Formerly the Society for Global Philosophy, the Society for Philosophy & Culture is an organisation dedicated to promoting interest in philosophy and other related disciplines. We also try to encourage cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary debate and discussion. We have branches at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and McMaster University, Canada.
We hold regulars seminars, talks, and other events. Information about previous events, including recordings of talks, can be found here.
We welcome new members to the Society. Anyone is eligible to join. Please go here to join up to the Victoria University mailing list, and here to join the McMaster University mailing list.

J.L. Shaw Thesis Award (Victoria University of Wellington Students) & Robert P. Wolff Thesis Award (McMaster University Students)
Through the profits of our book sales we participate in providing two scholarships to the value of $500. The award is offered to Master's students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Psychology (VUW) and the Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Social Sciences (McMaster) who have either recently submitted (within 6 months of the deadline) or are nearing completion of their thesis.
The Awards are open to anyone in the relevant faculties. Priority will be given to work that is interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary, or that will be of interest to scholars outside the author's home discipline, as well as work that engages with more than one scholarly or cultural tradition
